Jeter. For REALZ... People who know me know I am a Derek Jeter fan. Love #2. He's a classy guy with a knack for post-season baseball WOW-dom. Mr. November 2001, need I say anymore? Mr. Jeter of course knocked around the rag-ball in Columbus with the Yankees AAA farm team The Clippers in the early 90s. Not only was that a good starting base for Jeter's professional career, but from what my inside Clippers sources have told me in the past, a good starting base for is celebrity love life. (It was said that Mariah Carey would pop in Columbus every once in a blue moon and watch him from the sky box at Cooper Stadium). Anywho, Columbus loves Derek, I adore Mr. Jeter, even adored his AAA replacement Erik Almonte when Jeter popped his shoulder outta wack a few years back.
But I believe I had a slight change of heart this fall. Steinbrenner yanked the Yankee affiliation from the Columbus Clippers. Leaving us with no Yankee spirit to call our own in Columbus. Thanks fat man. But more shockingly than that was when on November 18, 2006 shortstop Derek Jeter stepped back in Columbus wearing Michigan University colors. Did I mention that he wore them inside Ohio Stadium during the Michigan vs. OSU game? YOU DORK.
I do respect he was born and raised in Michigan. Much respect, rep where you are from. But come on "Jeet"... Don't you have anything better to do? We know you don't like Columbus. You begged to go to Florida to be rehibilitated because you probably were too afraid of playing in "Grove-tucky." Understood, seriously. But why come back to see your Wolverines get schooled by the Ohio State University, Tressel, and Smith? Shouldn't you be at home with your loved ones who may be fellow Michigan fans consoling them over their loss? Seriously, he must have been bored with the off season. Trust me when I say it would have been okay if you walked up in there with neutral colors or better yet that winning Scarlet & Gray. But no. Jeter should have stayed home in NY and helped Steinbrenner, Tore, & newly resigned Any Pettite map out a World Series.
Seriously Mr. Jeter... You floored me with the Michigan gear in the CO! LOL!
Go Bucks.
